CLASSIC INCA TRAIL 4 DAYS
Embark on an adventure of your life by hiking on the most iconic trail in South America, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is between the best top 10 treks in the world according of the National Geographic Magazine. It run 42 km(26 miles) from the Sacred Valley of the Incas towards the Lost City of Machu Picchu, the most popular tour is 4 days that cross stunning landscapes in the Andes and ends in Machu Picchu located in the high tropical jungle. However every day are allowed only 250 hikers according of the Peruvian government regulations.

Inca Trail 4 Days / 3 Nights
This is the most popular trek that everyone takes to reach Machu Picchu through the Inca Trail, this four days trek starts at Km 82 or Piscacucho town in the Sacred Valley at 2,670 meters and cross several Andean villages.
Day 1. Km 82 - Llactapata - Tarachayoq - Wayllabamba
This is is quite easy with bit of up hill at some sections, once you arrive to Km 82 you’ll have not time to repack your items, the travel company will give you a duffel bag which will be transported by the porters, after you will pass the check point where you need to show your passport and the ticket(the company gives this last one). On this day you’ll hike around 7-8 hours (13km) along the way you will be able to visit some Inca site where your guide will explain you the history on the Incas. You will find some shops where you can purchase some water bottle or snacks, as the same some toilet which cost 2 soles.
More of the groups have lunch on Tarachayoq, your porters will set up everything for you as table, dining tent, seats, and the food. After this you will still have to walk around 2 hours to reach your campsite and it will depend of which is for your group.
Wayllabamba is one small village located at 2,980 meters above sea level and it offers breathtaking views of the valley. Here you have tea time and dinners.
Day 2. Wayllabamba - Dead Woman Pass - Pacaymayu.
This is the toughest day along the Inca Trail, this day you will reach the highest peak which is 4,215 meters. Your porters team will wake up you with a hot tea, after you enjoy the Andean breakfast and start hiking. The first section will be ascending for about 5 hours to reach the pass, but along the way you’ll have some spots where you can rest, use the bathroom and buy some water or snacks. We recommend to take your time to reach the past, due the most challenging part is the last one hours which you will be above 4,000 meters.
On this day you will only think to get the Dead Woman Pass 4,215 meters that appears at the top of the mountains, the last 2 hours you’ll walk on the steep steps trails with many stairs, but your best motivation will be the porters with their 25 kg in the backpack going faster than you.
The Dead Woman’s Pass if without a doubt one of the most iconic spot for all the Inca Trail hikers here you will deserve a well rested after the hike. Enjoy the breathtaking views, then start hiking down to reach your lunch and the campsite. For some people
The downhill is more difficult due the steep that you will find there.
Have a lunch and rest in your tent for the rest of the afternoon, around 5pm you will have a tea time following by the dinner. Your guide will explain you all the details about the next day.
Day 3. Pacaymayu - Runku Rakay Pass- Chaquiqocha - Phuyupatamarca - Wiñaywayna
This is the longest day, but also the most beautiful day where you will visit some of the most stunning Inca sites. After the breakfast the hike start ascending until you reach the first Inca site called Runkurakay, your guide will explain about it and tell you some history of the Incas.
Hike for another hour to reach the pass located at 4,010 meters above sea level, then you’ll descend for another 2 hours until Chaquiqocha where you will have lunch, keep in mind all these sections you will walk on the stairs and you must to be focused on where to put the next step.
In the afternoon you’ll hike toward the last pass called Phuyupatamarca 3,600 meters above sea level, hike where you will have fantastic views of the valley and getting close to Machu Picchu, from here the trail goes down for about 3 hours until to reach Wiñaywayna camp but you will visit another site called Inti Pata an spectacular area to see the Urubamba valley.
Once you arrive to the camp, you will deserve a rest, the walk to Wiñaywayna site the most beautiful along the Inca Trail. Have a dinner and spend the night at 2,600 meters above sea level.
Day 4. Wiñaywayna - Sun Gate - Machu Picchu - Cusco
This day your trekking team will wake you up early in order to allow the portes to pack and reach their train. You will wait until 5:30am to pass the control and from here takes 1.20 hours to reach the famous Sun Gate where you will see as the first time Machu Picchu at the distance. Take your time to admire and capture the best photos of this incredible place.
Then we hike down to the Machu Picchu for about 40 minutes and reach the classic spot where you can capture the best post card photos of Machu Picchu.
We will leave Machu Picchu to pass again the check point and have a guided tour to explore the most important temples of Machu Picchu.
Finally, we board our bus to get Machu Picchu town, enjoy the last lunch together with the team, in the afternoon we board our train and back to Ollantaytambo from there we take the bus to Cusco.
